Bio
I’m Gastón Izaguirre: visual artist and interior designer. I’ve been painting since I was four, and when I paint it doesn’t feel like “work”: it’s a physiological need—intimate, almost therapeutic. The work is autobiographical: it doesn’t narrate my life, it translates it into emotion, gesture, and gaze.
I look at the world in a very particular way: I observe it, question it, and exaggerate it. The oversized heads are there because I believe everything is decided in the mind—how we read context, how we process what we live, desire. And then the eyes: that dance of looking and being looked at. For me, art doesn’t have to “match” anything. It has to create a situation.
I’m interested in glamour as tension: beauty and edge, humor and darkness, tenderness and excess. I’m not trying to please. I’m trying to make you feel.
